Water Baptism

What is baptism?

Water baptism is a public declaration of an inward decision. It is how we demonstrate that we have decided to follow Yeshua Mashiach (Jesus Christ) for the rest of our lives. When we are immersed in the water and come out of the water, it symbolizes our new beginning in Mashiach (Christ).

Romans 6:3-5 NIV: Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Mashiach Yeshua (Christ Jesus) were baptized into His death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Mashiach (Christ) was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. If we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection.

Why do we get baptized?

Yeshua desires that every believer be baptized. Yohannon (John) the Baptist initially did not want to baptize Yeshua because he felt unworthy to do so. Yeshua caused Yohannon (John) the Baptist to change his mind when He said, “This is how it should be, because we must do all that Yahvah (God ) wants us to do.” Mattityahu (Matthew)3:15 CEV.

Yeshua entrusted to His followers to baptize all that would come to Him. Acts 2:38 KJV states, “Then Kefa (Peter) said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Yeshua Mashiach (Jesus Christ) for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Water baptism was meant to be full emersion, so that is what we do. There is a baptism pool in our Main Sanctuary with dressing rooms. We supply the baptism clothing, you just bring your life and Yahvah will take care of the change! You can be baptized at anytime, however our general baptisms occur on Sunday, Mondays and Wednesdays.

Who should get baptized?

ALL believers should be baptized. If you have accepted Yeshua Mashiach into your heart and have asked Him to lead you in your life, you should be baptized. Yeshua connects your baptism with following Him. The Bible doesn’t provide an age limit. What is most important is that you have made this decision without the influence of other people. You should not get baptized to please your friends and family. You get baptized to please Yahvah (God) alone.

Does getting baptized mean that Yahvah expects me to be perfect? And if I make a mistake, does that mean I need to get baptized again?

Our God is a God of love and mercy. Yahvah desires the best for us. Our sins are forgiven because Yeshua died for our sins—not only the sins of our past but the mistakes that we have yet to make. While He knows that we will make mistakes, He desires that we do our best to obey Him, and live a life upright before Him.
